Welcome back from Winter Recess. We are going to be taking the blog to the next level with sharing our thoughts, and delving into ideas more deeply than we have. This being said, I expect FULL PARTICIPATION; you will get more out of the experience, and you will EARN higher marks.
For the first blog posting of 2009, and the first post for the week, you will need your Tanakh. Open up to Leviticus 19:14. What does this verse mean? What does it mean to you? In addition sharing your thoughts, I want each of you to re-write the verse using an analogy.

it means do not trick the helpless to make yourself feel better, look up to your g-o-d and be great and you will feel better about yourself.
rewrite: your nothing, your g-o-d is better than you, if you follow g-o-d maybe you'll be better too.
In a way, I agree with bad***. If you are upset with someone, and want to take it out on a helpless man/women, don't. G-d implies that instead of doing that, you will look to G-d for bliss and not feel as bad for yourself.
Analogy: Do not take your anger out on someone else, for your belief in me is the cure for all aliments.
i mostly agree with badass you cannot put others down to make you feel better espesioly the less fortunate becuase it will not make you feel better it will only make them feel worse so thre is no point to putting others down for your own satisfactory
I agree with badass aswell. Instead of taking your anger issues on someone else, G-d implies you should honor your him.
Analogy:Do not be angry at someone else, if you follow God you shall be great.
This verse means to me that we should respect other people. Everyone has flaws and we should not attack peoples' weaknesses. I'd say an anology wouold be "you should not torture a fat man to eat" or simply "dont attack your neighbors weakness".

i also think u shouldnt insult ANYONE... the text says not to insult the "deaf" but it's also not nice to insultt someone who isnt deaf

i think it means that you shouldnt take advantage of peoples weaknesses and that you should worship G-d.
my analogy:
Be thankful for what you have and don't take advantage of the weak, and worship god.
again i agree with badass. but is there really need to be angry at anyone? they could have done something to you, but if u r w/ god then u will go in the right path.
I think this means that you have to draw a line between people and God. i think it says not to insult the weak or the handicapped, and instead revere God for his power because he can make you sick just as easily.
rewrite: treat people the way you want to be treated or else God will harm you.
The verse says not to put a block on front of a blind man. what this says to me is: people have their flaws. Sometimes they have control over it, and sometimes they don't. All you can do is learn to look past those flaws and be the bigger person. If not, G-d will come around and make you soo regret it.
Analogy: Karma's a b*tch.
im am going to use an analogy for my responce. Lets say you are having a bad basketball season and then you come across a team that is worse then you are you wouldnt run up the score board just to make it so you feel good about your skills.
