“Honor your father and your mother.” –Exodus 20:12
What does this mean to you, to them? Is this an easy commandment/mitzvah/trait or a difficult one? Please elaborate and explain as to why and how you find it easy or difficult.
A weekly reflection page for my students to offer their thoughts and experiences with the value of the week.

yup not honoring them is bad
Honoring your mother and father is the most important mitzvah of all. They helped bring you into this world, they raise you, feed you, house you, educate you, love you, etc. there are sooooooooo many things i can say about honoring your mother and father so im going to just stop
i agree that honoring your parents is the most important mitzvah, they are the only people that are going to love you NO MATTER WHAT. we should respect and them and be thankful for all they do for us.....p.s. anonymous is not ORI
To honor your mother and father is to respect them and treat them kindly. It is both a mitzvah and a commandment. It is a difficult lesson to learn and may take years to learn but it is very important.
Honoring your Mother And father is one of the most crucial things that you could do. Agreeing with what ORI said about them housing, education and etc. Honoring your parents is also important due to the fact that they are the reason that you are alive, so be gracious for that.

honoring ur parents is not an easy thing. People argue all the time but we must the difficult thing to not argue with our parents especially. To me, it means i have to respect everything my parents say and not talk bad about them.
Honestly to me, it doesnt mean much because i dont always honor my parents. I dont think its the most important thing to do because what if they dont honor you as their child?
I just disagree with it being the most important thing is all.
i think that it is not that hard of a commandment. if you get mad at your parents just don't talk to them. We should respect them. I agree with what sarah lev said.
Honoring your mother and father is the most important mitzvah, and it can be somewhat difficult. I mean, you will have to follow every order they give you. Just imagine doing everything they tell you to do.
Weeeeeeell. What I think of this is honoring your mother and father are extremely important. They're the ones who made you! (Well, they didn't make me, but that's besides the point.) But in my situation, my parents waited about a year to settle papers and come get me from China. They wanted me so badly and they never gave up. It shows how much they had already loved me and cared about me and I respect that 100%. Sure I get in arguments with them all the time, and we don't agree on most things, and they embarrass the heck out of me. Some people find it difficult to honor their parents because they don't have the respect I have for mine. But I find it easy because at the very end of the day, I've come to love them and I honestly have no clue what I would do if either of them weren't there. Honoring your parents is essential because when the rest of the world steps out, they'll always love you and be there for you no matter what to step in.
Not honoring your parents in my opinion is a hard comandment to follow becuase well i am a teenager and so everything they say agrivates me. i try to honor them though. Im not completly disrespetful like in most ways eople are disrepectful im respecetful but in other ways im not respectful but im trying harder.
so yh i think this commandment is difficult.

I believe honoring your father and mother is a very important mitzvah. Parents give you love, educate you and want the best for you (sometimes). Sometimes its difficult to understand their motives especially when they want you to do something you don't want to do, like homework. One day we will be adults and hope that our children will give us respect.
To me i think its very important to honor your mother and you father because they are family. friends may come and go but family is always there no matter what.
